About changes

It is hard to build a habit: going to the gym every day, working extra hours, getting up 5 AM to meditate, etc.

But what if those habits aren’t serving us anymore? What if those habits are built on fear of not being productive? Would I be lazy if I don’t do this or that? What if I fail after that?

Being secure about ourselves allows us to make those choices without losing who we are. Getting grit and stick to habits is good for us, but leaving behind what doesn’t serve us takes courage and should be admired.

“Sometimes we form an identity around a habit that’s familiar but no longer serving us. We hold on because we don’t want to lose a part of ourselves. But that isn’t who we are, it’s just all we knew.”

This is a lovely quote about building habits and changing them along the way, by Koreen Odiney, from We’re Not Really Strangers.

Changing consciously is good. ♡
